Actually your question is very easy to answer.

Did CW over charge?

Example..Oil change on an 8.1L (This was in 2005/6) at CW 99
At the local Chevy/Workhorse authorised,using synthetic 65

Home is where I park it!

Sounds like Sears auto repair nightmares.
Eventually companies do not recover from this nonsense.
Right now they are the big name on the block, and people do not know any better. yet.
Later on, no matter what they do to attempt to repair their reputation, the majority will consider them negatively, and that ground can never be made up.

Just my own 2 cents worth, but why would you buy every day parts and accessories from CW when you can purchase the same item (s) from Amazon, Ebay or elsewhere for that matter sooooo much cheaper.

Camping World Service Mgr steps up... Thanks to all of you for your feedback. It gave me enough insight to talk frankly with the CW service mgr. He agreed the charge was excessive and cut my bill in half. I agree it should not have happened, but at least they did the right thing and addressed the issue locally.

I was disappointed that several calls to the CEO of CW resulted in no follow up by him or anyone in top management. I never left my local CW info, so I'm sure my Service Mgr's decision was not influenced by anyone. The CEO's customer apathy resonates across their service platform and contributes to the systemic issues CW service in general exhibits.

It is still excessive as it should have taken all of 5 minutes for the tech to confirm what the suspect issue was in a conversation with you.

Then open the hatch and perform the work and make a couple checks of things to verify it is operating properly.

Another 10 minutes...

Then do other work and come back in an hour or so and check it again to be sure it is stable.

Another 10 minutes.

Then hand it back to you and describe what was done.

One hour of billable time if that is minimum charge is reasonable, but only if it is posted as minimum charge.

This could have been a 30 minute fix.

A letter is in order here as the manager did give some credit but the type of repair and the process to complete the repair indicate a severe lack of ability that could be a safety issue to many folks.
