The water pump in our 2006 Montana FW is so loud we have to practically shout to each other if I am at the kitchen sink. Are they all loud? Anyone have any suggestions?

A big part of the problem is that they are usually mounted to the floor in a plumbing bay and the vibrations they put off resonate the walls of the bay. Do a search of Camping World and you can find kits designed to "quiet" them a bit by isolating the source of vibration via some shock mounts, etc.

In some cases, it works better to mount the pump on a piece of plywood with the shock mounts, and then use a second set of shock mounts to secure the plywood to the floor.

Besides what J Birder had to offer with the double set of rubber shock mounts, make sure you use one or possibly two shock hoses to isolate the pump from the water distribution pipe.

My pump had PEX tubing directly connected to the input and output of the water pump. Because there is more pulsing pressure on the output side, I installed a shock hose on that side and it helped to reduce the noise.

I like mine noisy. Well sort of, mine can barely be heard when it turns on. This way I know if I have a leak somewhere. One time, it would turn on for about 2 seconds every hour or so. I looked around and found a small leak at my shower fitting in the utility compartment.

I had a child using my bathroom once and left the faucet on a little. The noise of the pump led me to search for the problem. If I had not heard it, all of my freshwater would have emptied while we where boondocking.

Mine is so noise it would scare away young children. I wouldn't mind a little noise, for the same reason, just not 8.3 on the Richter scale

We have several RV's between friends and family and I always get asked about quieting the water pump. First I install the flexible hoses, but on both sides of the pump. If the pump is hard plumbed with PEX, it will vibrate with the pump on both the input and the output.

I also use either grommets or a couple of mouse pads to mount the pump.

My 2002 Diplomat had the floor mounted pump and it was very noisy. Amytime someone used water it was"rat-tat-tat" . My new new Entegra has the same pump mounted on the vertical wall of the storage bay and it's absolutely silent. I'm thinking the old Diplomat bay resonated more sound like a drum.

Our pump is noisy like that... rat-a-tat-tat... Unfortunately, neither DH now I are very mechanical. Should we hire a plumber to fix it? It's driving me nuts!

See if you can find a small piece of rubber (like off an old mud flap) then mount it onto a piece of plywood then screw it down to floor with pump on top of rubber and small rubber grommets under plywood. Just hear a small noise from ours now.
