I hope you have an ISB or 3126! Running straight tap water in a wet liner engine is a good way to hole a liner and cause a rebuild.

Thanks for the correction Franka. Even 8.33 @ 50 gallons is only 416.5 lbs. which I do not think is a fatal flaw in your coache's ability to drive or on your pocket book for increased fuel costs. I find it hard to believe that RV mfg's would install fuel, water and propane tanks on a coach that would make it a road hazard if all were full? Add for most DP's a minimum of 500 lbs of tongue weight, plus the added weight of loading a coach for the road and....well you get the idea. What most of us owners are more concerned with is fuel economy and so the one/half full tank seems to be a good compromise, but not a requirement.

We always travel with a full fresh water tank. Last year we caravaned to AK. Most of the other rigs didn't carry fresh water for various reasons. After a full days driving we stopped at the scheduled campground only to discover their water system had frozen a month earlier and most of the underground piping had to be replaced = no water and no place to obtain any. We handed out buckets of water until we had just enough to get to the next CG.
My advice, fill the fresh water tank every morning after you leave the lower 48.
