Weather Emergencies // Sad News

My thoughts and prayers go out to the families affected by the tragedy this morning in Virginia.

At least 2 confirmed dead at Cherrystone Campground | WAVY-TV

Virginia police: 2 dead after storm at campground

I would like hear some advice, tips, and best practices for staying alert and reacting to server weather when camping.

In addition to my smartphone which alerts me to weather emergencies I’m going to get a weather alert radio for camping as well.

Thoughts and prayers for those affected.

Accuweather app on your phone will provide alerts for severe weather.

You can add all the weather warning instruments on the market but with tornado's their is still very little warning.
Making yourself aquainted with the campground shelters is something everyone should do when checking into a SG.
Hopefully the CG will provide that information on the rules and regulations information

What a tragedy for those in VA. When we started fulltiming, it was obvious that our new lifestyle afforded little protection from severe weather. I purchased a weather radio that operates on 12v and wired it into the house bank of batts. It has been on 365/24/7 for a dozen years. Any advance warning can help make the difference.

Agreed. having a plan and educating everyone in your party what to do and where to go is the #1 priority. Once the alarms, bells, whistles and sirens go off it's too late to try and figure out where to go.
