Weber baby q 1000
I had been using the grill for a few years, I love it and it is
great for cooking, but the work involved in getting it cleaned
up so it could go into the basement was tedious, to say the least.
Then I found this accessory from Lodge cast iron.
Amazon.com: Lodge LJSCP3 Jumbo Chef's Platter, 12-inch by 15-inch: Kitchen & Dining
It is a near perfect fit to replace the grill. I now cook everything
on it, and clean up is a snap. I love it, and wanted to pass it
along since I see a lot of Weber Baby Q's in the campgrounds.

Great tip, thanks for sharing.
I too love my Weber Q but hate the cleaning needed to keep the basement from smelling like a grease trap.
Ordered one.

Looks great for frying but to me a good burger or steak needs to drip
Agree that its a pita to clean but a general cleaning then place it in a garbage bag for transport works for me.

We have a Weber 200. The grill gets cleaned after every use and the "innards" get cleaned maybe twice a season which seems to keep odor out of the basement. But I did buy a grill for it at CW which covers about 50% of the BBQ area so I can still grill while cooking vegies.

We have a lid from an old tote that ours sits on, then the whole thing slides into a 30gal trash bag. Close the end of the bag, and store. No smells, no drips.

I think our is the 200. I put a layer of foil over the grill and crank it up on high for about 20 minutes. It turns everything inside to a white colored ash. I wipe it off real nice and then replace the foil drip tray with a new one. I put the weber cover on it and away it goes into the basement. Spotless and no smell.

We've had our Baby Q for about 3 years now. Love the thing. Have it hooked up to a 20lb. bottle and when I'm finished grilling, I crank up the heat and let it burn until we're finished eating. I scrape down the grate, turn it off and let it cool, remove the grate and scrape down the insides with a stiff brush...everything ends up in the aluminum grease pan which I line with aluminum foil(yeah, I know I'm cheap), toss the mess and reline the pan...good to go for the next time. I've not noticed any grease trap smell.
I do like the flat grill idea...like to start cooking breakfast outside instead of in. I think they make one designed for the Baby Q. that is non-stick???

I have a Q200 and a trash bag works great for me. No odors in basement.
