Welcome to summer in the Rockies

Mid May and we have 12" of new snow. I'm in southern Colorado and understand the central & northern mountains got even more snow out of this storm. Two weeks ago I was out riding my Harley thru the mtns in 70 degree sunshine.

19* in Helena, MT this morning so it's still winter I guess. Perhaps I should have stayed in vegas a while longer, 77* there this morning. Oh well, it's nice here during the 3 weeks of summer.

I remember in the early '60s driving around Denver in a convertible on a warm sunny Christmas day, then 2 weeks later it was -20F. Got one of the worst sunburns in my life there, went shirtless on a balmy January day and forgot that the "mile high city" had more intense sun!!

Brrrrrr!! We are supposed to be in Durango the first week of June. I want campfire weather, but I don't want to freeze.

That's good. Maybe there will be no fires this year. We had to run to Chama, NM last year.

Gonna be 98 here in the Central California Valley, 102 by Thursday! Heard this morning all fire permits will be revoked and none issued more than likely. CDF is stating already double the wildfires than last year at this time. Many of the western states are more than likely to adopt the same strategies with the severe fire seasons we'll be experiencing soon, some are already there.

Hopefully the western slopes got a bunch of that and will fill up Lake Powell.
