Westlake Tires and age out

I tried searching for info about this but could not find.

I am a new RV/MH owner. It's a Class C 28ft. with 45k miles. The previous owner/2nd owner said he bought it in California and had new tires put on it in March 2018; they do look brand new. They are Westlake SL369 All Season Radials Lt225,75R16's. The DOT is

DOT 00K LT2AFL. I'm not sure how to tell if they are out of date or not. I thought you had to look at the last four digits which are 2AFL. Any info would be appreciated.

Look for a branded set of numbers on the side wall of the tire. The first 2 numbers are the week of the year and the last 2 are the year. Example 0618 means the tires were manufactured the 6th week of 2018

There should be another section on the tire somewhere with four numbers in it. Sometimes it will follow the tire serial number and sometimes it will be elsewhere on the sidewall. In the reference below the last block is the tire date of manufacture code.

IMO the code on your tire is a misprint as it has to many numbers. Drop off the first zero and use the next two as a plant code and they will provide info for a China tire plant. There is no 00 plant code.

That DOT code doesn't sound any meaningful.

Who knows, China has their own systems on almost anything everything, they just enjoy on their own. Cautious is always the best practice. We know that one can find the best things in the world there, and can also find more worst things there.

I know Discount Tire carries Westlake tires. Check with them they might be able to give you a satisfactory answer.

That group of letters and numbers is molded, look for a branded code. As suggested it may be on the inside of the tires.

Maybe, they were made in 2008..

I seriously doubt they were made in 2008. Look again. Remember it's branded, not molded.

I am sure Westlake tire is a chinese brand, a friend of mine has a set and likes it. Maybe the manufacturer opened a plant in Thailand so to dodge the punitive duty on goods with chinese origin.

Tire made in 2008 is 10 years old definitely check with Discount Tire.

Looking on the Westlake tire registration page, it shows an example of what to look for. After DOT, there is an alphanumeric number (similar to what the OP's image shows) and then after that, the branded date code. I suppose it's possible the OP's tires didn't get branded for some reason.

I've looked on each side of tire and can only find what I have posted so far. The tires look new; they still have the little

rubber nubs/nibs/nipples whatever they are called on the side of tires. No cracking or wear at all. But, I don't want to take off on a long trip with possibly old tires. If I can not find out for sure then I will buy new tires. Thank all of you for your help with this.

Have you tried actually calling Westlake?
