What Are You Thinking, Camping World?

C'mon, Camping World. Have you no shame? You're kicking off a Red, White & Blue Savings Sale on 9/11. Really??!!! As crass exploitation goes, this is at the top of the list.

Exactly what I thought when I saw that ad. Do you think they even had a discussion about it, or just one dimwit in charge of this fiasco?

They need a marketing department/person with a brain... While they probably overlooked the timing issue, they should not have...

Tons of ads on the 4th, I see nothing wrong with being patriotic on any day that we celebrate a nation coming together. Plenty of restaurants with signs up today as well. Eventually it will become a holiday. Anything wrong with memorial day sales?

Not the same as the 4th. I don't believe I have ever seen a Pearl Harbor day sale, and you will never see me having a barbecue on September 11.

Nothing about today would I consider a celebration. Today is more a day to remember what happened and honor those that lost their lives. I am not attacking your post either, just politely pointing out an opposing viewpoint.

How about Pearl Harbor sales on Dec 7th? Just because others have turned to making a buck on such holidays as Memorial Day, and even open on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, does not make it right. The 4th of July is a day of celebration, it is so much different than a day we were attacked. Hey, how about D-Day sales!

9/11 is still fresh in our minds and is a day of remembering those that lost their lives and the cowardliness that cost our country dearly. I also know it is celebrated in some other countries - and I don't want to join that party.

Yes, someday it will be a distant memory like Pearl Harbor or D-Day and maybe even a holiday, but not a celebration. The US flag was at half staff for a reason.

They could have just had a weekend sale like the always do, and just called it an end of summer sale or a hot weekend sale on any such name, but they chose a theme that tied it into a day of disaster.

I saw many sales today and for the weekend, but I did not see one of them showing the flag flying at full staff - but I may have not looked hard enough as there is enough greed out there as the following attests to.

Here is an article from two year ago on the subject Number 1 says it all:
Quote:
1. 9/11 Golfing Bargain
Just in case anyone wants to commemorate the murder of nearly three thousand innocents by heading to the links, a Wisconsin golf course offered 9 holes of golf for just $9.11:
The mods will probably call this politics, arguing or both and kill it, warn us or just delete it. So I will just unsubscribe to this thread and not bother with it, or the sales either.
