If a moderator/administrator is posting in a thread, you are certainly welcome to reply. We're members just like everyone else.

That’s a loaded question as we are not allowed to discuss moderator action either, however from the Community Rules

This forum is largely self-policing, which means that moderators will respond and react to problems reported through the REPORT POST option, the CONTACT US link at the bottom of each page, or via PM. Do not hesitate to use these tools to report any problems regarding the forum.

Believe it or not we are here to try and help even if it does not come across that way in each instance.

It was a yes or no question. It was not intended, nor do I consider it to be a loaded question.
I understand the rule that prohibits discussion of moderator action. While I did not interpret your post as a moderator or administrator action, I have erred in making interpretations in the past and did not want to be found guilty of discussing moderator action.

I did not mean loaded as being derogatory if it was taken that way. The post I made I did not consider it as a moderator action either just a informational post.

I have erred also. I I think I'm gonna ruffle too many feathers, I go ahead no flag my own post for early review.
As far as part of a discussion of this thread, I noticed on another that a member wrote a 9 word response to a thread, then took a three paragraph detour into the desert.

Since we’re in agreement that the post quoted above is not moderator action, I will first say that the phrase “you all” puts everyone who has posted on this thread in the same group. A group that you claim has made uninformed judgement calls. I do not believe that everyone who has posted on this thread meets that description. The OP stated that discussions are sometimes cut off when a post is deemed off topic and another poster mentioned that threads may be closed when they get out of control. There hasn’t been much discussion about moderators making poor choices or shutting down threads for no reason.
The post came across as being defensive of moderator actions when no accusations were made. It also seemed to be a bit of a lecture, which is why I wanted to clarify that it was just another post. I did not take your statement that my question was loaded as derogatory. It simply did not meet the definition of a loaded question.
This is an odd thread, in that the OP’s topic and headline question appear to be rhetorical. The first post concludes with an opinion on how others should word their questions. The second post from the OP contains a statement about the goal being to make folks think about how to frame a topic. Was there really ever a question to be answered or was this just a format for the OP to express an opinion?
Have I strayed off topic?

Would that be self flag-ulation?

I am not sure but I assume you were addressing the OP (me). If that is the case let me assure you I AM camping and not only that I am working too.
Apparently the post was not inane enough to deter you from posting to it...

Some of you "Got" what I was writing about here and some did not. For obvious reasons the subject has to be discussed in terms carefully chosen.
My bottom line is this. Too often posts are shut down as "off Topic" when in fact a simple and direct case is clear that some posts are just misconstrued... Other times posters take it directly Off topic.
But in many cases folks just feel the need to respond to blatantly false information or claims by another poster and answer. This also sometimes leads to posts being closed as off topic.
My contention is that these "small branches" of the main topic tree are legitimate discussion and in fact enhance the discussion.
And just as this thread shows some find the only contribution they can muster is a sniping and a sneering derogatory comeback to something they just are not interested in or do not understand.
It is also a shame that some see this site in such narrow terms of constantly revolving posts about campfires and happy campers and RV problems. It can and should be more than that.

Wowww
Wowww
Wowwww
I think we all got what you are saying.
And I for one like the way the Moderators on this site provide guidance.
Its a free Country.
Maybe you need to start your own site with your like minded person and you be the moderator.
Apparently Camping isnt doing it for You.
As it does for so many on this site.
Again, I do understand what you are saying in your posts.
I think in certain surroundings with a specific audience that your 100 % correct.
But I respectfully disagree with your content and direction, control for what I like personally about this site.
You have had some very thoughtful comments to your original post.
But you show no respect for others thoughts and desires if they are slightly different from yours.
You need to contact the moderators of this site personally and explain how You want the site Managed, controlled by YOU.
So that YOU can be HAPPY [emoji6][emoji41]
If they so choose to accept Your guidlines
( terms carefully chosen )
End
Quite
