What do you think about rush travel.

My daughter is 10 Weeks out of having my first grandchild. We have the new camper. My wife wants to go check on our babies on September 7&8. I here to be back to preach the Sunday morning service the morning of the 9th. Our daughter lives I'm Amarillo and we live in Mt. Pleasant, TX. My daughter can't put us up. After our last road trip to California, I don't care to sleep I'm another hotel room, the rest of my life. What is the best way to incorporate the camper into this quick trip?

Walmart parking..

Or find a local city/state park close by and see if they have any openings for those days.

What kind of camper? Towable? 5th wheel? Travel Trailer? Tent camper? You can stay in an RV campsite. Many rent spots by the week cheaper than by the day. I'd research it. There are plenty of nice campgrounds in the area, both in town and out of town.

Substitute preacher for the one Sunday so your not rushed? Works at our church. After all new grandkids are special events and I would think the congregation would completely understand.

I just did a Google search for RV parks in Amarillo and there are at 4 RV parks there.

Hop in the RV and go. That's why you have it.

We left town in our RV on the same day when we found out there was an emergency where a family member needed our support.

And I agree...motels are horrid.

About the only other option I can see is to tow RV to Daughter's (or near daughter's) Drop off wife and trailer and on Sat high-tail it back to the Church, sleep there over night (Take your bag with you) or at your house (If nearby) and do your pulpit thing in the morning, then cruse back to wife.

But the Guest preacher sounds like the best option to me.

Call in a sub. No job is worth passing up the family and grandkids.

What would you do if you had a break down? Sundays come and go. Bless your heart but I'd call on a substitute to provide divinity intervention.

Enjoy your family.

Through the years we have been on our annual summer trip when an emergency (normally involving family health but sometimes the good stuff like new grandbabys, or else a DW professional emergency) will happen. One of us will stay with the rv and the other will fly to where the emergency is, rent a car if necessary, take care of business and fly back. Expensive, but if it is truly important you do what you have to. One time I had to fly out and DW drove the motorhome back home. It is possible to travel as a single if one half of a couple cannot ride along.
