I always considered a coach a motorhome, but it really doesn't matter to me how folks identify their RV.

Whatever YOU prefer is all that matters.

I agree with Dirk.

A small correction on the historial origins of "coach" however. Coaches were in use in Europe prior to the inhabitation (by Europeans) of this continent.

The term "stagecoach" was adapted to coaches used for long, arduous, cross country travel where the teams of horses had to be exchanged at 10 mile houses. Each journey between stops was a "stage" . . . hence "stage coaches".

You know it's been a long winter when we find ourselves trying to define the word coach. BUT when you google "RV Terms" to search for a definition you really discover how severe the cabin fever is.

Coach
A vehicle with enclosed passenger accommodations. In the broadest sense of the term, coach can be applied to most recreational vehicles. When used by itself, it usually refers to a motor home, most likely a Class A.

The RV industry uses "coach" to refer to any RV and "motorcoach" if they want to restrict it to motorized RVS.

Who's into terms....this is what FMCA has to say on the subject.
"Membership in FMCA is contingent on ownership of a qualifying motor coach: a Type/Class A, B or C motorhome, or a bus conversion, that contains all of the conveniences of home (including cooking, sleeping and permanent sanitary facilities)".

For my two cents... I often refer to my motorhome as our rig.

What do the initials "FMCA" stand for? Family MOTOR Coach Association? That's a different kettle of fish from the general term "coach" which was the subject of this thread, so I would expect FMCA's definition to suit their purposes.
