What is an rv?

Just had a discussion (arguement) with a friend. He made the statement that fifth wheels and towables are not RV's. His opinion is that unless it is powered and drivable it is not an RV. What is your opinion? I don't agree with him.

To me a "RV" is any Vehicle used for Recreation purposes.

I mean that’s whet “RV” stands for.

IMHO, anything covered by RVIA... motorhomes of all classes, trailers from 5th wheels to popups, truck campers, and park models.

RV = Recreational Vehicle.

We have friends that refer to a motorhome as camper....anything else is a trailer.

Different strokes for different folks.

A vehicle (from Latin: vehiculum[1]) is a mobile machine that is designed or used to transport passengers or cargo.

It is essential that a vehicle have a source of energy to drive it.

A motor home is an RV. Any trailer or fiver is not an RV.

According to Craigslist, an RV is any vehicle used for recreation
-Motorhome, TT, 5th Wheel, pop-top, tear drop, motorcycle, ATV, Quad, etc....

But seriously, the OP is right - powered or not it's an RV.

Craigslist?!!??!! Bwahahahaha!!! I used the encyclopedia and dictionary.

vehicle - any means in or by which someone travels or something is carried or conveyed; a means of conveyance or transport: a motor vehicle; space vehicles.

Conveyance - a means of transporting, especially a vehicle, as a bus, airplane, or automobile.

A trailer of any type by itself is not capable of transporting or conveying anything. A stationary trailer is nothing more than a storage unit on wheels.

OK so your buddy is a Newfie, and you were part way through a bottle of Screach, with nothing else to talk about, and got into this discussion.
Everyone will have there own opinion, I'm with you , but it could just be the booze talking .

Hey, I used Craigslist in attempts to try to be relevant, dispite being AARP eligable

But, notice the post above: "vehicle - any means...which...something is carried..." That sounds like a trailer to me

It appears to me that your friend has a wealth of knowledge.

Could you ask him to define Army Intelligence?

Recreation: (perhaps) engaging in meaningless word play.

We call it a Motor home why not engine home?

Good try here but there are at least two glaring problems.

1. A trailer has a power source - the tow VEHICLE.

2. I doubt that you could convince ANY local, state, or federal peace officer that a trailer is not a vehicle (and thus does not have to be registered as such, or titled).

An RV is something that costs lots of money and continues to cost lots of money while you own it.

OK, there is the answer

RV = Real Vacuum....
Because, it is vacuuming out your bank account.

Then, of course, that applies to a boat as well.
