In 2008 we went from Ga. to S.D.,Mont.,Wyo. ,Idaho,Arizona,etc. We traveled a total of 4900 miles. checked mileage each fillup. we averaged 8.33 mpg. We returned again in 2009. We drove 6500 miles and averaged 8.32 mpg. This was a 35 ft pace arrow pulling a honda civic. Our lowest mpg was 7.2 and highest was 9.42. I drive at 62 mph and take it easy up hills.

Looks like I'm going to have to leave all unnecessary weight at home on the next trip to see if I can get the mileage up a little, I'm going to miss the DW. If she reads this I'm in the dog house again.

We lost about 100 lbs of weight when we replaced our CRT TV's with LED TV's last month. Wonder how much extra mpg we'll get?

With only 1,800 miles on ours the best so far is 6.7 MPG. That is while towing our car and running the generator. We haven't done any long trips with it, just local around Florida. We are getting ready for about a 2K trip, with a lot of freeway, and hope that will give us a better indication of what our MPG will be. When we get back from that trip I am going to change to synthetic oil (1st oil change) and hope that will help mileage go up a little. Also by that time the computer learns our driving habits and that will help increase mileage.
Time will tell I guess.

Another thing that will effect ileage is how much ethanol or MTB is in the gas. Before they started adding these things to the fuel we were getting about 9 mph solo and 8.2 mpg when pulling our Jeep Wrangler. When they started adding 10% ethanol the mileage slipped to 8 mpg solo and 7.3 mpg pulling the Jeep. When we're unfortnate enough to get "gas" with 15% ethanol the mileage drops to 7.3 mpg solo and 6.5 mpg pullng the Jeep.

The strange thing is that one of the few places you can still get "pure" gas is Iowa, one of the states that's a primary producer of ethanol. Apparently they like to produce and sell it, but prefer not to use it.

I've averaged 8.1 since I've owned it, including generator use. I have seen a tank/fillup low of 6.2 and a high of 11+. Headwinds seem to make more of a difference. I'm usually above 5000 ft & found that with low octane + ethanol in the tank, down around sealevel the milage drops dramatically.

Keep your crusing speed at 55 and don't floorboard it up hills, and you will be suprised how you gas milage will improve. I have a 1999 coachman pulling a Pu and get a cosistant 8.5MPG

This is going to sound really nuts.
I get between 6.5 & 7 MPG. This using the odometer on the dash. However my Tom Tom GPS says the speedometer is reading 4 MPH fast. So at 60 MPH on the GPS the speedometer reads 64 MPH. This would be 6.67% over and the odometer should be 6.67% over. However when my GPS says its 100 miles to the next stop the odometer does read 100 miles when we get there. It should read 106.67 miles. I'm sure this throws the MPG off. Ford said the odometer should be off because the speedometer is off.
I have checked the Tom Tom GPS accuracy with a second GPS unit and the Tom Tom GPS is correct. I've also seen the speed on those signs showing your speed.
Just for an example 100 miles/15 galons = 6.67 MPG.
106.67 miles/15 gallons = 7.11 MPG.

I cannot have the speedometer fixed as my local Ford dealer said it they would not fix it. Maybe they could but I'm sure it would cost a lot.

That has to be the most novel/best argument for a tv upgrade I've heard.

Drove to Little Rive, SC la few weeks ago and got 7.75 MPG on the way down. Kept the speed at 55 - 62 MPH did not use the genny.

2000 Ford V10 37 ft 65 gallons of fresh water 75 gallons of gas. 37 ft Pace Arrow. 26,000 miles on the engine.

In the FWIW dept. We have a 2011 38 foot Damon Challenger and with just over 5,000 miles since purchase, we are averaging 8.1 while pulling a Jeep wrangler toad and not using the generator very much. I think a lot has to do with the weight of the "toad" and the speed of travel. A friend who has almost an identical V-10 configuration (RV weight and driving style) is pulling a full-size GMC Denali and his mileage is less than mine by almost a mile per gallon. Whatever the mileage and the price of gas, We plan to use the motor home and enjoy it, regardless!

We've got a 98 Shasta with a V10 and get 7- 7.5 MPG driving between 55-58 MPH towing a Honda Accord. Not great milage, but cheaper than most motels. We usually run with about 25 gallons of water (mostly for weight) and empty tanks. Gatordude

I had a 2005 Itasca 35 ft w/ the V10 6.5 MPG at 55 MPH all day long. This was the same as my 2001 Winnebago w/ the Work Horse 8.1.

I have a 2005 32 foot Hurricane with the V-10. On our last trip, 5,063 miles, I averaged 7.151 MPG towing a Jeep Liberty and keeping close to 60 MPH. Best day was 8.95 MPG and worst was 6.30 MPG. Headwinds and tail wind sure make a difference.
