What size air compressor ?

I'm looking into getting a portable electric air compressor.
I see several different size options available.
Does anyone have experience with this and what have you learned.

I guess it depends on what the scope of use is?

I carry a porter cable pancake compressor with me (I use it for my nailers and whatever since my shop compressor stays where it is). Since I keep the coach at the house, the compressor's put-it-away place is typically in the basement compartment.

It goes up to at least 135 (plus or minus however accurate its little gauge is). It is sufficient to take a 22.5 tire up to 110 or higher without much effort.

It depends on what you're going to do with the compressor. If you're just filling tires and using it for a nail gun, the pancake compressors will do the job. If you're going to be shooting paint, a larger tank would be needed.

I like the Porter Cable, Dewalt and Ingersol Rand compressors. There are some other decent ones on the retail market.

Look at the warranties on the compressors before you buy. If it has a very short warranty, that's an indication that the compressor is troublesome. They are not all created equal--especially the no-name cheap Chinese units.

After review of various portable air compressors, I carry this one in my RV and it's working out well! Nice size, features and price.

Thanks for the input and Roll Tide

A few years ago I bought a Coleman 120 V tank unit from Lowes. I don't think they have them anymore though. Goes to 150 psi but with our size tires, 365/70 and 315/80, it does take a while.

Interesting...I just bought that same compressor last year and carry it with me.

I replaced a smaller Sears model that had problems producing enough pressure to get me up to 95 lb.

Below is what I carry. It is more for being able to put air in my tires anywhere anytime. Little car air pumps just will not get 100psi in rv tires. I have since put a quick dissconnect on it and use it for a few other odds and ends.

I had a portable one, but now with my 365's in front that will only require around 100 PSI, I gave up carrying that and am using the two air hookups (one in front and one in back) in the coach.
