I too live in Vegas / Henderson, and the registration fees are ridiculous. You are correct that they decrease with age, but if you buy a brand new vehicle, it is very high for several years. It is a shame that people have to own vehicles that are probably at least 8 to ten years old just to afford the registrations. I am very fortunate that I don't have to let that be a factor in what I own, but it still stings. Insurance is extremely high also. The no state income tax helps, but there are several states that don't have it, Texas being one of them, and their registrations are also low. Unless we "full time" though, I can't imagine living anywhere else. Lots to do outdoors, weather is mostly great ( it's a dry heat, haaa), and if we so desire, can save some money for registration by eating a $2.99 steak and eggs.
