What to do!

Sorry if this gets long but I will keep it short. I bought a camper from my ex Lawyer in 2010. It is a 2005 Springdale Clearwater. I paid him $4000.00 and I own a Security company so I installed a $2400.00 Camera system for him and provided 3 years of Fire Alarm inspections on one of his large Commercial Property's at a value of $1750.00 a year. Total of over $9000.00

Up until this time we left the camper at a site full time. But we just traded it in for a new 5th wheel. For the last year I have been asking him for the title. I know I should have requested it before I paid the final to him. I asked him for the title and he said he lost it. So I brought the Department of Motor Vehicle paperwork to him he filled it out and sent it in.
Well the paperwork came back and the title is still with the bank he defaulted on the loan so the bank owns it.

So he has been telling me its coming for over a month yet he can't produce anything from the bank and can not produce a check that had been cashed by the title holder.
Looks like I am out the 9+thousand. Any ideas.

You need a lawyer who's better than he is!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Well, not necessarily. Seems like he knew this all along, and committed a fraud. Lawyers lose their license when they are dishonest and commit frauds.

I'd share that's the plan, to pursue legally,,, give him 5 days, then do it. Perhaps get a lawyer to write that up for you so he understands you mean it.

I hate to say it, but you may not find a lawyer better than he is. They are like cops, they cover each others ass.

The Dealer I traded it to was a good friend of mine and he took it in on trade knowing he was putting in for the lost title. So I had to give my friend the cash value on the trade in and still am stuck with a camper with no title.

You make a call to your local law enforcement agency or the local DA to confirm statute of limitations not past and also confirm what charges would be applied.

Then call lawyer and tell him he has X days to pay you in full and in CASH total debt or he will be turned into both law enforcement and the collection agency of your choice.

Follow up with notice in writing confirming action sent registered mail.

This from schmuck citizen...

There are many retired law enforcement folks here who could provide much better direction based on their service.

Probably already lost his license due to shenanigans like that.

I would hire a 15 year old to hack into his system and shut the cameras off.

If there is any outside monitoring, cancel it immediately.

Cancel fire alarm inspections.

Do whatever you can legally to remove/stop the services you have provided him.

I can think of a number of satisfying, but illegal, actions also.
