What to wear to a RV Show.

Normally when we go to RV show and don't want to be hounded by all salesman so I wear an old pair of Levis, an old t-shirt and my oldest pair of shoes and salesman just ignore us. This time we going out to eat at a nice restaurant with friends so I wore slacks, a nice button down shirt and dresses walking shoes, and a leather jacket. It was like wearing fly paper - I had sales stuck to all day. I had a camping world sales guys follow me out the Camping world display and though two other vendor area before I could shake him. Lesson learned

That is a great way to go shopping for a car as well. We do that all the time.

I guess I'm not a fancy dresser.....never purposely dressed down for an rv show and haven't encountered many pesty sales people! But, I've usually found that if I tell them we are just looking, they haven't bothered us......guess like we don't look like big spenders!

Wednesday, Kelly asked if she was "over dressed". Black over the calf boots, black pants, black and gray blouse. I was wearing really old and faded Tru-Spec black pants, a Cabelas maroon and gray pull over and hiking boots. We did okay with keeping most of the sales people at bay. But, everybody we spoke to either at the Entegra display (Lou Park from Lazy Days) or the Entegra owners group were absolutely fantastic. We happened to run into a couple who has theirs for sale and was escorted out to their coach, given a tour and escorted back, and this was knowing that we were not ready to make that jump yet.

We go back this afternoon to see the final part that we have missed on the ground and hang out with the owners group for dinner.

Thanks for the hints, we are going to our little show (Grand Rapids, MI) this afternoon. I’ll swap my “good” jeans for my old “work” jeans.

Can't say I've ever experienced what you describe. If you don't want to talk to salespeople just tell them you're there to kill some time and get over it. They're just doing their job.

Since your dealing with the sales clowns, I would wear a Ringmasters outfit.

My normal clothes and by myself keeps the salespeople away. They want to deal with couples so I fly under their "radar".

WOW!

What happened to people just saying, in a polite manor, what they want.

"No thank you!"

"Do you have a business card? Thank you I will let you know if I have questions"
"I am just looking right now"
"I will find you if I have questions"
Sales people are there to make money. If you tell them you are not going to make them any they will find someone who will. A good sales man will figure that out fast. The poor ones will need to be told.

Just tell the salesman that your credit score is 570, you just lost your job, and ask him how he could get you into that 45 footer over there.

Seriously, where I work, a salesman told me three things he looks for that tells him the person isn't a serious buyer: husband and wife holding hands; husband with hands in his pockets; large group of people. That's what he told me.
