January 2015 heading to Dallas, El Paso, Tucson, Phoenix for the Good Sam Rally at the end of Feb. Lots of stops until we reach Phoenix and then who knows. We have never been to Arizona so looking forward to this. Tired of looking at snow on the ground.

I'm very new at this and plan on traveling this winter along the southern tier, do you all have a plan for every campground stay and reserve ahead of time?

That's all in how you like to travel. Some like to drive until they're ready to stop, some like to drive to a planned location. The thing about driving without hard set plans is you have to be ready to accept whatever you find and don't count on places like Walmart to welcome you in.

Last trip I left a day early and decided to stop at 10:00pm. Went to the "Known RV friendly" Walmart in the area and was told that I couldn't overnight there. Luckily it was a Saturday and there was a Chick-fil-A right there. Went there, spent the night, not a word was said by anyone.

So if you're good with a Walmart, random parking lot, truck stop or rest area as a last resort then you'll be fine.

Use campgroundreviews.com and see where you're headed, check with area campgrounds that you will make by a desirable stopping time and see if they have room. If not then hobo it up! It's why we have locks, right?

Wow. That is a trek! If you are going all the way to Halifax you NEED to zip across to Newfoundland.

We'll be volunteering at a NWR in Manteo, NC until April, then a month traveling and visiting family on Cape Cod, and the summer in northern NH 'til late Sept with some excursions around there and Maine. Then probably Amazon in Kentucky again just for the fun of it.

September will be nice, but may be a touch early Don, unless you're up in The County. ;-)

Over Christmas we'll slide down the Texas coast to see the dolphins and winter birds, including the whooping cranes.

Spring break will be at Lake Conroe to enjoy the boat for a week.

For summer, we're heading to Yellowstone with a number of side trips along the way to and from. My wife is planning now so she can have her Yellowstone reservations.

Being retired is hard work.

I guess that we are going to be a little 'backwards' from others this next spring 2015. We will be leaving our home in Alaska, mid April making our bi-annual trip to the lower 48. At this time we will be traveling down the West coast stopping in different places to either see friends or to have work done on our MH. Our turn around point will be Las Vegas, after attending a hand gun training course there. Then we will be working oour way back up to Idaho and then back home in Alaska. We are planning about 6-7 weeks.
Everyone have safe travels!!!

Bryce Canyon and Zion are so beautiful! We went 3 weeks ago. We plan to go back to Utah in the early spring and then Yellowstone, along with Colorado. Just got our new comfy diesel and plan quite a few trips to San Francisco to visit our kids and new grandchild during the winter. I think we will be gone a lot this coming year!

Last year when we went to Laughlin Nv we didn't go to the grand canyon,is that worth the stop and do you need to plan a day just for that,or is there camp grounds.
