What type of sewer hose is the best and how long do we need?

Unfortunately the manufacturer of our hose is no longer making the hose. Essentially, we are out of business. You may find a suitable alternative at www.drainmaster.com, their product is similar to the Polychute.

Well, it was an expensive sewer hose so most people probably didn't see the value in it. The Drainmaster is almost a direct copy of it except that it uses the "cam lock" fittings. You'd have to saw off the old bayonet from your termination to use it (I personally would have a hard time abandoning something that's worked forever). I've seen some blog posts that suggest the jury is still out as far as how good this is. Here's a satisfied blogger who I follow who is very happy with it:
