The things you learn.
DH was a welder many many years ago and the big joke with our children was give the plastic toy to Dad and he would weld it
now I guess we couldn't tell them that

hubby is an electronics tech. He has a weller soldering iron I suspect would have done the job but he was not going to use it on plastic. flat refused. lol
So he got a new tool. He (we) can use it on other things around here that need fixing so I'm good with that. And the thing comes with an interesting "iron" that looks about the size of a quarter. I can use that to do pyrography on leather when I need to shade something.

Pocket Hose 1st test - cheap plastic ends.
It was a chilly 46 degrees. Both cheap plastic ends would not seal. Both the house end as well as the spray nozzle end both leaked bad. My regular garden hose does not leak 1 drop.

The hose did expand and contract as advertised.

I really need a warm day to test again.

They leak just as bad in warm weather - at least the one my wife bought did.
