What was the last thing you bought for your RV ?

New exterior light added under the awning. Got it off amazon. 10 watt led multi-color. Mounted and wired in. Remote to control it.

Added a 5" exhaust system and muffler to cool down EGTs. 4" downpipe coming out of the turbo in the downpipe, then 5" the rest of the way out and thru the straight thru muffler. Should cool exhaust temperatures and add power and mileage to the Cummins 5.9 12V. Cost: $1300.

Just ordered a Dometic Portable Freezer/Refrigerator for overflow adult beverage storage. Hope it fits in the bay!! (If not, it will have to ride in the passenger seat and I'm on my own. )

No more hunting for ice for the cooler along the trail.

12/24 volts DC, 110 volts AC. It has a compressor; it is not an absorption type. CF-50 Portable Cooler - Dometic Corp

Mike, if that's an 8.3L Cummins, that is a wet-liner engine and you should be running FleetGuard anitfreeze, not something that you pre-mix to dilute. Running the wrong coolant will destroy that engine.

You are correct that the 8.3 is a wet-liner engine and is subject to cavitation damage, which can lead to liner pitting/pin holes. The coolant used in a wet liner engine must address the need to protect the liners. I use Fleetguard coolant with DCA/SCA but others are acceptable as well. These coolants can be purchased pre diluted or as concentrated which are user diluted.

It is true that incorrect coolant can lead to serious engine damage but there are a number of products that will give protection. It doesn't have to be Fleetguard, but Fleetguard is a fine choice.

Wow......... Glad I have an old 5.9 12V cummins. No computer and plain old distilled water and Prestone or any other Ethelene Glycol like Wal Mart brand. Sounds like an ole wive's tale to me tho. I would hate that since I have an Aqua Hot that holds about 15 gallons of coolant!
