After that is done need to find a table that will work, we are going to use the existing one till DW finds one to her liking.

My husband and I made a table to replace a broken laminate table. We used oak planks and cut it to fit exactly, stained it and made the whole area much nicer.

That sounds like a better way to get a proper fitting table. Pictures if possible please?

Terry, unfortunately there aren't any. That rig was two rigs ago now.

I measured and measured and planned before we started. We used 3/4 inch oak planks but can't remember if they were 4 or 6 inches across. We cut them about an inch longer than needed keeping at least one edge as straight along all the edges as possible. We used a dowel peg drill, added glue and placed the dowels. Then put braces on it while drying. Once dry, we then used a saw to cut off the slightly uneven edge, sanded the edges and corners, then stained it. Once it was all dry, we reattached the leg set that came with the original table and put it back in. We did test it to see if it lowered into the bed that the dining room made. (Did that before attaching the legs) It did with one minor sanding on one edge.

What I did was google how to make a plank table.

Thanks you for the reply I have book marked it for future reference. Got The laminate in today and changed the TV from a 24" to a 32". What a difference, the new one is also lighter.

Custom made solid maple steering wheel table top stained to match our existing cabinetry. Ordered from Dave (new owner) at Focal Woods in Nappanee, IN. Also toured his showroom which host some very impressive custom RV cabinets and accessories.

latest purchase

Installed angle iron beneath fresh water tank that was sagging, manufacture thought a 1x3 pine board would do.
