Have you ever followed a life stock truck (pig pen) hauling pigs, cattle or sheep to market? Now there is some serious poo hitting the hiway behind these folks. What you did was nothing by comparison.

Got passed by a cattle truck back in my two wheeling days. That called for a time-out on the side of the road.

Get your vehicle safely to the side of the road in a safe parking place, and then call 911 to report what has happened and then do whatever you have to to do to your vehicle (fix/tow) and whatever is on the road is not your concern, each state highway division has people to take care of all of those things with correct procedures reguarding traffic safety etc. Sometimes people tying to be helpful can cause themselves harm or other people harm.

"As to "paying for hazmet clean up" = whose road is it? (not yours). Who allowed the road to become almost unusable? (again, not you). Why would you owe anything?
If damage to my vehicle was sufficient I would argue that road owner (city/state) owed ME. Not the other way round and it appears that there is a cop with enough info to become a witness. "

Oh I'm sure you wound win on that argument!

There's a T-shirt that covers this situation. And yes, it DOES happen!
