Last week DW and I took a short trip just to get away. While gone, two instance happened that I found outrageous - DW says I am overreacting a bit.

On the way to our destination, we were trapped in a traffic jam on an interstate due to an accident. After we sat for an hour or so, an obviously very pregnant young woman knocked on the door asking to use the bathroom in our motorhome. I told her we did not have any water on board - I sure did not want her and her scruffy looking "significant other" walking through our house. They were not happy, and said some pretty unkind things as I was shutting the door.

We stayed at a commercial campground for a couple of days. One morning, the campground's WiFi evidently was down. I was at the picnic table using a laptop with our internal network (cellular) when the guy next door came over (who I had never talked with before) and asked how I was able to connect. When I told him it was our own system, he asked me to give him my password so he and his kids could use it for a couple of hours. When I said no (said our air time limits were nearly used up) he actually got po'd and spouted something about not helping a fellow camper.

I guess I was astounded that people would have the nerve to ask those things, and was upset to be put in the position of having to say no. What say you, am I overreacting?

We were stuck in a similar situation for about 3 hours a few years ago. We let a lot of women use our bathroom. As I recall, the DW and I went to them and offered.

I wouldn't have let the campers use our WI-FI either.

Lets see how this works out, but I am with you. 1, I do not let strange people in our MH. If they were hurt or the weather was real bad, I might think about it, otherwise no! 2, I have paid for the air time and have made arrangements for me to stay connected. To be asked for my password so him and his kids can 'play' on their computers is out of line.

I would have let the pregnant lady use the bath but just requested her husband wait outside.

I have no problem letting others use my mobile wifi while I am on, if I want them off I turn it off and change the SSID.

Maybe yes on the restroom thing because she was pregnant if they looked clean and were polite.

No on the internet usage.

Definitely no on password sharing -- that is a big security risk.

Only you can determine the situation on the bathroom. You stated that the hubby looked scruffy. To your question of "overreacting," I vote no you were not overreacting, you were being protective of you and your family.

Prego lady - yes (but I understand and respect your decide to say no)
Scruffy looking sig other - no
WiFi - no way, soonest you mentioned minutes of usage he should have backed off

Which wifi do you guys have where you buy minutes? If you have a smart phone you can tether for free.

Howdy!

I would say no to both. We fulltime in a 5er and do not let unknown people into our home. There was a recent story on the news that someone let a neighbor in a RV park have thier password to thier internet. The owner of the internet was later arrested for downloading "CHILD PRON". Turned out it was the neighbor doing the downloading but it still cost the nice guy doing the favor some uncomfortable time in police custody.

No....on the WiFi and No on the toilet use......STD's can be picked up off of toilet seats!

I agree with you. NO on both requests. You are paying for both and it is your call.

I am pretty generous with most things but in both of these cases, I agree with your response 100%. The world is just not the same anymore and you never know who you are talking to.

Case in point, and old couple in northern Alberta a few years ago went missing and their MH was found burned. Last place they were seen was at a gas station fueling up. They have a "Person of Interest" but have not been able to prove anything or find the bodies to date.

Sad state of affairs, but?
