Have you seen the Smart Cars that some of the Excel 5ers carry sideways on the back of their large tow vehicles? First time I saw a pic of one I thought it was photoshopped in.

I don't think we will see anything close in the way of prestige or high end or for that matter high tech in the future. Why you ask? Economy for 1 thing. #2 is due to the fact, retirement accounts have been taken away, or dwindled to nothing, or not given on such a gracious platter...so the RV life for retirement is appearing to be slowing down rather quickly.

Or like me, retirees will be settling for smaller, cheaper RVs in order to still be able to travel. New and innovative usually equates to big bucks. You are probably right. Look at how many fewer RV builders there are now than 20 years ago.

But it is fun to dream about our fantasy RV!

New discoveries will led to changes we can't imagine. Example: there is a new generation of glass is in the works, self-cleaning! Just think no more window cleaning and no more fogged dual pane.

That little red bus in njs42's post #7 above sure tugs at the heartstrings. Those were the days when ya had a prayer of working on your own rig and being able to fix the darn thing. Today, unless you're a skilled electrical engineer, a well experienced plumber, a master diesel mechanic with a minor in hydraulics, and...a computer programer, ya haven't got a chance keepin your own rig going. If these days rigs were prevalent during the days written about by Stienbeck in his Grapes of Wrath, those folks would never have made it out of Oklahoma let alone gotten all the way to California.

Maybe the toad motor could also power the generator?

Prestige? High End? I think they got it covered with this one.

I am still looking for some kind of use of an electric or hybrid vehicle that uses regenerative braking to be used as generator for motor home when it is being towed. So all the time you are towing you would have elec for running all systems in your towing rig.

And of course the fuel cell for the motor home to create the electricity you need for systems. Meaning all the electricity you need with zero noise. Now that makes for a pretty picture in my mind, a field of RV's on green grass, no one making generator noises.
