What's with Class A only Resorts?
Being relatively new to the RV lifestyle, I am discovering that many of the upscale RV resorts will not allow anything other than Class A's in. What's this discrimination all about?

I haven't seen that . . . and we have a class A. I have seen that many parks limit the age of a coach in order to try to keep the park looking nice. I did see a park recently, in lovely Yreka, CA, that mentioned that the age of the rig is not as important as its condition. I thought that made sense because so many of the vintage RVs are beautifully maintained. But no Class C's or 5th wheels? Where are you seeing that? I'm surprised they can be that picky in today's economy!

Many upscale private resorts want to control who can stay. As you point out some only want class A's, some have age of camper restrictions, and so on. I can understand them catering to an specific audience and support their right to do so. I won't be one of their patrons however. I can see where someone who paid $300K plus may not want to be parked next to a 20 year old delaminating class "X", or a pop up camper, or a tent. There are many places that take all comers such as state parks, koa's, and many more so you have a lot to choose from.

Unless you are snooty and drive a palace on wheels, you probably would not want to stay in a ritzy #60.00+ a night park.
Usen poor folk are more fun anyhow~!!!

There are lots of resorts that will not allow in anything other than Class A's. We have come across many of them. In fact, unless you own a Class A you can't even buy into many equity resorts or I should say that you can sure buy a site but don't even think about parking anything but a Class A on it. I guess they'd rather have a run down, 25 yr old rusty old Class A parked on a site beside a million dollar rig rather than a brand new half million dollar Class C. If it's the image of the resort they're concerned about then they should be more concerned about the physical condition of the RV and what it looks like and not the type of RV that it is. This makes absolutley no sense! What's the matter with people! Disgusting if you ask me! But I guess if you own the resort, you can set any policies you want! How pathetic!

I have never understood why anyone wants to stay at these "upscale" RV parks but should you select this option as your preferred destination then you also have to realize that these specialty parks make many, many stupid rules. Be it Class A only, no pets, no kids, no one under 55, no coaches over 10 years old, whatever, they all have the right to make theses rules. The very best part of all of this is that you have the right to spend your money where you will be most welcome and that will almost never be one of the "resorts" you describe.

No discrimination at all. They're private businesses and can set their own rules.
If you don't like it, don't go there --- simple.

$60 a night gets you into some KOA's and they're not THAT ritzy!!

I recently visited a campground's website (a Maine CG, if I remember correctly), and it had a rule about all coaches being less than 10 years old but they would consider you if you sent a picture of your rig with your reservation. What if they don't like the color or shape of your rig???

"Stuck-up" people. I do not spend my money at this sort of place.
I'd like to see an RV campground dedicated to RVs that are over 10 years old only.
