Shades are cheap and add insulation so most lighting cannot get through.

We live in country on 1 ac lots and when city folks move in it gets bright lights as most city folks have every porch light on just because that is what they did in the city to be safe.

Sometimes just strike up a conversation about something else and bring up how YOU was always the one bothering folks with your city ways until you learned otherwise...
