Wow, that's quite a lot of amazing sleuthing, but nope! Haha. Melbourne has nothing to do with it, nor does Pleaant Grove.

OK, everybody, I think it's time for me to reveal the answer which is in fact Blanchard Springs Caverns in Fifty Six, Arkansas. It was guessed correctly by SkiSmuggs but a couple of the clues were misinterpreted. The original photo was one clue. I gave one written clue here on IRV2 and a couple more on my blog RussOnTheRoad.wordpress.com. Here are all the clues with the intended interpretations:

"it’s something like Australia, and something like Kansas; 53, 54, 55…"

Something like Australia = down under

Something like Kansas = Arkansas

53, 54, 55... = a number sequence. Note the elipse at the end indicating more to come. That would be 56. Fifty Six is the name of the town where the caverns are located.

Thanks for playing everybody! It was great fun.

LOL! I got the Kansas clue, but was clueless about the other clues. I figured it was someplace not too obvious and my dad grew up in Batesville, so I visited Blanchard Spring Caverns while on a trip through Batesville.

Are you staying in Blanchard Springs Campground? I'm sure that you'll take in the springs and check out the swimming beach and the rock cliff that hangs out over the creek. That campground was a favorite of my Dad's and we camped there as kids in the 1950's and '60's.

The wife and I visited there for my old times sake in 2007. We had just purchased a Coachmen Class C and stayed at a campground in Mountain View.

No, I didn't stay there. I considered it but it was actually closed because of the rains. Part of that campground is accessed via a low-water bridge. When I called the ranger station to see if I'd be able to cross it I was told the campground was closed and they didn't know when it would be reopened.

I stayed at Sylamore Creek Camp a few miles outside of Mountain View.
