Where Do You Find Old Used Motorhomes Under $10,000?

I just want to upgrade a little from my VW camper to something a little bit bigger and self sufficient. I really like 80s Class Cs, GMCs, and 70s Winnebagos, but I can’t seem to find any dealers who sell the old stuff, or anything under $20,000.
Are eBay and Craigslist my only options?

I see your in Houston. Try PPL at 59 and Beltway 8. Look on their website (pplmotorhomes com) or stop in and walk through every now and again. You would be surprised what they have. Basically they are a consignment lot.

WELCOME to the Forum.

e-bay, Craigs list, PPL, RV Trader..

Start looking and get educated on the market and pricing.. Actively search for a few weeks to get educated, but don't commit to anything. See whats available and upgrade / modify your plans.. When you start the serious search, good deals don't last long so you need to be ready to jump when you spot one...

You're looking at the bottom of the food chain where the sellers decision may be to call the junk yard or see what they can get for it..

It sounds like you have experience, so use caution, the more you know, the better position you'll be in to make a good negotiation, or when to walk away from a money pit..

Be cautious of scammers on Craigslist.. extremely good deals i.e. a 10 year old DP for $20k. Walk, no RUN , away from any deals that the seller is unwilling to allow you to pre-inspect the vehicle. i.e. "I'm being deployed overseas, and will have the vehicle shipped to you."

DO NOT under ANY circumstances send any money unless you have personally inspected the vehicle AND the title... You will be burned.. think how you will feel when you discover you just sent someone your life savings and it was a scam...

**** I like the "deployed overseas" one... I contact them and tell them "WOW, My brother in law lives across town and said he'd be more than happy to stop by and look at it. What time can he come by".. The answer will be something like Oh, its in storage right now so we can't get to it"

Here's one for $4500 right here on IRV2's classified section.
Lots of stuff in the $19000-27000 range if you can afford to go higher.
And no, I have no financial interest in this sale.

crankyape.com is an interesting auction site. You can see what others are bidding on units of your interest. My son bought an RV and a car with good success.

Have a nice day - Darrel

Start looking local, then Craigslist. Being careful of the scammers that are everywhere. In that price range you may have to set some $ aside for repairs.

You have to be looking everywhere, all of the time. There are several "lemon lots" in Yuma where people take their RV to sell. Some are very nice, others need some love. People check the offerings out on a regular basis. One of our group buys a unit and takes it home to sell each year.

Fellow across the street is selling a 93 Foretravel Unihome 40' but have not asked what he is asking.
