Where have all the snowbirds gone?
We're thinking of going to the gulf coast this winter but we have no idea
where to go. We have been to Texas and New Mexico, but never East.
We have heard that the Al coast is great, can anyone help?

Alabama coast and Florida panhandle are very nice unless you want warm weather. You pretty much have to get south of Orlando before temps do not go below freezing. December, January, February averages will be 50-60 day, 40ish at night. Water in the Gulf is too cold for most people to swim in winter. If this does not sound bad to you then it may be suitable. While not as populated as southern areas, there are snowbirds in that area. One draw is that it is less expensive, by far, on average compared to warmer areas. Good luck with your choice.

I hope it's more like 70 where we're headed. Never been to FL in the winter, but anything has to be better than Indianapolis. We're headed to a town called Frostproof. We like the name and it sounds warmer than the horrible prediction here. Oh ! The price was great.

I have never stayed at Frostproof. But I have driven through it going across the state from Vero Beach to Sun City Center. It is a nice little town with a LOT of orange trees. Only real drawback is that it is a long way to the nearest salt water beach.

Well, we aren't that much into salt water, but like pools. Our big thing is to escape snow, ice, hurricane (blizzard) type winds. Hopefully no shoveling that in Frostproof.

Try Anchors Aweigh RV Resort in Foley Alabama. It about 5 minutes from the shore. We've been doing it for about 4 years now and really like it.
