I'm just curious. It seems that everyone but me hides their identity on these websites. I must be missing something, but I don't understand why. It seems to me that if you act the way you should on here that you would not care if others know who you are, where you live, etc. I try my best to never say anything that would irritate anyone, certainly not to the point of coming after me! If we just follow the golden rule " Treat others the way you want to be treated", we won't have anything to worry about.
OK, now it's your turn. Go ahead and tell me how stupid I am. I promise not to come looking for you!

I don't believe I have hidden anything, but, IMO, some people are more private than others.

We must be paranoid about identity thieves. It does happen.

If you haven't experienced one, an internet stalker is something you might care to avoid. Sometimes internet stalkers turn into real-life stalkers. Some years ago we actually had to get a restraining order against some idiot who took a dislike to DW on an internet forum. It was not pleasant.

Some folks live the virtual reality of the internet too...intensely, let us say.

It would not be hard to find out the location of your stick house, and the fact that you are away in your coach on an extended trip... That's enough reason for me!

Hi jminyard,
There are too many reasons to count or list. Alter ego might be a reason that ranks near the top.

I don't think you folks are stupid at all.
However if you leave a regular house behind when you out on trips,
I wouldn't post too much about when you leave or the fact that you might be 400 mils from home since you have your names and city/state clearly listed.

People that break into homes utilize every means possible to find places that are void of people and as much as it would be very pleasant to actually know everyones names and homesteads it is wise to keep some information to oneself. When I go away for awhile I do not notify the any utilities, cable company or any other company that our house will be vacant.

+1. Something as innocent as signing up to attend an RV rally can flag to the wrong individual that we're going to be out of our sticks 'n bricks for the weekend. Frankly, that's not something that I care to have floating around the Internet.

It seems to me that if you act the way you should on here
If we all acted as we should we could do away we the courts, law enforcement and maybe even the 10 Commandments. till then be careful what you share with people you don't know.
