I think the showers harbor quite a few disease bacteria. We rarely use them, but do use the toilets so we can eliminate the black tank. We have a gray tank and a yellow tank. We take Navy showers so we can go for days without hookups. If staying multiple days, I usually don't hook up the sewer line until the last morning to dump. Seems to work for us.

I generally use the bathhouse because it saves on propane, I get to take a longer shower, and I can actually turn around in the shower.

One of the must haves when we traded from a gasser to a DP was a "human sized shower"
No one camping with us has used a comunal shower since.
Sit on someone elses toilet?
Shiiiiit, that ain't happening. No way, never.

I take long hot showers. If I fill my grey tank, I have a water pump plumbed so I can transfer the excess into my rarely filled black tank.

We just downsized to a Class B and we started using CG showers in State CG's. We both have small mesh type bags to throw your stuff in and wear Flip-Flops and after you've done it a few times its not a hassle at all. We always park near the showers. I'm using their hot water which saves my propane. We just completed a 6500 mile 6 week vacation and used quite a few of them and every one was nice and clean etc. If nothings available or the weather is bad we shower in the coach and it works great too. We dont do it to waste water and take 1/2 hour showers, its in and out and done.

Same here with the mesh bag, also stumbled across a giant carabiner that will hook on the door in case the hook is missing. Also use surfer moc's for the unknown floor and the trek back in the gravel.
On several occasions when we were out in the middle of nowhere put on swim trunks and used the outside hose to shower, not to carry the water out.
Pretty much depends on CG and facilities on what and how we use.

In 10yrs of RVing I have used campground shower one time. I prefer my own private space. After all that's we travel in a M/H.

I am truly grateful that my Sig has a huge shower in it, and that the aqua-hot allows for very HOT and LONG showers...No need for the Misses or myself to ever go to a CG facilities! Come to think of it...I don't think I've ever even seen the inside of one.

I guess JimM68 doesn't move far from home when not travelling. Restaurants must be a no no. That cheap shot aside, we use the public shower when coming home from a trip, as we have no convenient dumping station near where I store the MH.

Being male, i never ever need to sit in a resturants facility, tho i often use them standing, carefully not touching anything....
As for the length os our trips, our last was 3 weeks from chicago to monument valley, with lots of stops on the way and on the way back....
Again, I dint buy a 40 DP so I could use someone elses bathroom.
Out next will be 4 days plus at chicagoland speedway, we won't even need to pump the tanks...

Count me with JimM68. For 30 years I traveled constantly world wide, used to average 5 or 6 weeks of vacation travel annually when working, and we spend a lot of time traveling now in the motorhome. Other than hotel room toilets, I'll bet I have not sat on a public throne 20 times in over six decades. Some of us just do not use public facilities unless we absolutely have no choice.

I also do not use public facilities if I can avoid it. My shower is plenty big and I always have plenty of hot water. I can use propane or electric, so I always have it on the electric mode. I have seen some not so clean rest rooms and showers while traveling, so we use our own toilets while on the road as well.

Sometimes my impatiance warrants a trip to the bathhouse, DW hair and so on, don;t mind them at all, will also be at chicagoland this week, 6 of us, the boys will use the showerhouses that the campground furnishes (free) and the ladies can have the shower, I installed that new showerhead that was the rave of this forum some time back (Oxygenics) and it works great and saves lots of water, we should be fine, but to the point I don't mind public showerhouses the DW refuses to use them.
