Shortening my Grandmother's name is usually punishable by death-or worse, if I can think of anything worse...

However:

I'm not only a whiz-bang driver, I'm merciful!

Since Tim-of-the-bad-number is new here I'm lettin' him off this one time only as long as he takes that back! Saying that about Craig knowing how to drive even after I already pointed out that I'm the only person on Planet Earth that knows how to do so....
As for Craig himself:

We'll settle what's what next time we meet at a freeway onramp...

[Much citing of traffic law, and much opinion, but there is one thing I have not read here. The 3 second, or 1 car length for every 10 mph, rules for traffic.]

I know exactly what you are talking about. But I never said anything about 3-5 car lengths. (5 car lengths only = about 100ft) 3 seconds at 65mph will put almost 300ft between vehicles. Secondly I'm talking about the moving traffic we are trying to merge into, not our distances we leave in front of our RV. Most all of us know we need A LOT of stopping distance between us and the guy ahead. IF the proper spacing was kept in the moving traffic, just imagine how easy it would be to merge in with the flow. With the proper spacing there is plenty of room for through traffic to shift around to let a long slow vehicle into the flow, and this conversation would, most likely, not even be here.

BUT, as has been well said here and we all know the P R O P E R space will never be left, so we are left with no choice but to 'force'our way into traffic when traffic is heavy, and so, the need for this discussion.

2 more cents.

I guess that leaves Fresca and Franny out too? My great aunt was Franny, she hated Francesca, (the name not her grandmother). I'm stuck with Rosemary

Your previous post indicated that we would meet head on. You would be the one with the yellow line on her right? btw, I think I'm bigger. Yes, size matters.

It's true that I'm only 5'4"- less when sitting down in the turret... but my tank is bigger than your moho!

Did I mention what happens to survivors- er-make that "fugitives from justice"?

Florida DOES have a right turn on red, after you stop. Then, you may turn if the way is clear, unless there is a specific sign that says you cannot. (such as near a school.) You may not just cruise right around the corner without stopping.

My husband took a drive safe class in Houston when he worked for a chemical company in North Dakota as Safety Director so he could come back and teach it to the truck drivers. When riding with him I often wonder how much he retained or practices. Then there are the directions of how to properly load the dishwasher. Everything I put in that thing gets just as clean when I load it as it does when he loads it. Amen.

Just this evening on the way home from work I had to take evasive action to prevent a Merging Moron from running into the side of my car. She was primping her hair in the rear view mirror while she DRIFTED onto the highway, I am NOT making this up.
Sometimes I really wish I had a built-in rocket launcher on the front of my Subaru.
