Glad to see the O.P.'s back!

Since this falls into the "endless rant" category of internet postings I feel obliged to help, so:

Just checking in to say- again- that nobody in this whole country can drive except me.

Hope this helps!

I see we've come full circle now. The OP has returned. Our job is done here! Nothing to see here folks. Please move along quietly.

Dang: Looks like someone needs the space. I was hoping to actually find out how to merge or a least gracefully yield the right-of-way.

getting worse??!!

We are now in the New Orleans area and it seems to be the merging down here is worse. These people will just start to push in on you at the last minute. you have to really plan ahead and use DW to help

I watch out for merging traffic and when I spot a vehicle I usually slow done and let them in because I know I cannot stop on a dime and would rather let them in rather then risk a possible accident.

Nawlins: Laissez les bon temps rouler "Let The Good Times Roll" has nothing to do with let the other guy merge and get ahead of you...

I feel if they have enough energy to flip me off after me running them to the shoulder when they finally get out and around me, the next time they could try their blinker and plan their merge. It notifies me of their intention and is much more polite.

That reminds me of the time I was traveling south on the I-5 freeway where the southbound CA-14 merges with the I-5. A car decides to "squeeze" into the space in front of me reducing my braking distance to nothing and then proceeded to put on his brakes due to traffic slowing in that lane. I had to lay on the brakes and the twin air horns at the same time whereby he quickly swerved to the adjacent lane to the left and took off.

And if I had hit the car for whatever reason, it would have been my fault not his. As stated earlier, if I can move over I will, if not I won't and I don't slow down either as that can cause an accident just like careless driving does.

It has become very clear to me while driving all over the North American Continent that ever since Driver Education classes were abolished in high school due to budget cuts the skills of the drivers on the road today has reduced in quality to that of having baboons behind the wheel.

In the beginning of your story, I pictured a bug on the RV windshield, the shape of a car.

Re schooling, students taught so many things they will never refer to in the rest of their lives, yet driving, banking, mortgaging a home, and taking care of the home and children, they learn nothing about those life skills they will need for the rest of their lives. That's why a lot of kids drop out.
