A number of iRV2 members own lots at Wilderness Estates on the Ocklawaha River near Ocala, FL. An announcement today claims the park will be sold at auction on Spet 21, 2011 by the mortgage holder, TD Bank. The park remains open for business, both rentals and sales, and presumably current owners will not be affected.

Included in the sale are 200+ unsold "condo" RV lots, a number of rental sites, community buildings and commercial buildings (stores and restaurants).

Sounds like they need to build a Walmart there!

I visited this park last winter. They have a motorhome exclusive area within the park which is gated, in addition to the main gate Yep! Two gates. Seems like a little "over kill" It's a nice park and close to Silver Springs and Ocala.

Who ever ends up bidding on this place should read all the covenants and consider how the expenses/association dues are written. It may have something to do with their demise.

It is a nice park but the lot prices are high for this area. I live just several miles down the road and you can buy a 1/4 acre lot with a double wide home on it for what Wilderness is asking for some of these RV lots, plus they collect annual dues/fees as well.

Still, they were doing ok until the economy faltered. They probably just ran out of money & credit.

I have a 3 day stay there for free if I listen to a 2 hour presentation. Guess that won't be doing me any good now.

Pretty sure you won't see a presentation. Been there, done that. Never once bothered by anyone.
We are booked there again next winter.

Been there a few years ago; I'm pretty sure it's the same place it was a time share then; this place has changed hands several times, I would be very careful about buying into this place.
Good for overnight (a little overpriced) thats about it.
