Just had my windows defogged be Suncoast Designers in Hudson, FL. I would highly reccommend them to anyone on the east coast. They have a very nice facility, 50-amp, water and a dump station, and can house about 20 motorhomes at any given time. They pulled the windows, sealed the window voids with plastic coverd cardboard, and got right to work as promised. Twenty-four hours later we were on the road and the windows look great. I'm very pleased with their work and thought their pricing was very reasonable.

Is this a franchised nation-wide system? I had to replace a long narrow window for over $1,000 and sure enough it was an Atwood window. I would like to use an alternative to replacement for the next window that gets fogged. From what I read about Atwood windows...it will happen again...maybe not to the replacement but to another one. The dealer replaced two other windows before I would accept the coach. Then this pricey one fogged when the coach was mine. Joe

Joe,
Sorry but this is a family owned business with one location. To be clear, they removed, repaired, and re-installed my fogged windows. It is not necessay to replace them.

If you don't find a relaiable company in your area to repair your next fogged windows, you can ship windows to Suncoast Designers for de-fogging.

Jim28730 - I'm a bit confused as to the term 'defogged'.

Are you referring to the condition where a double-pane window looses its vacuum & clouds over?

Thanks.

Mark

Jim, thanks for the post. I had seen this or a similar company mentioned previously, but I lost the information. We spend winters in Florida near there, and we have a couple of windows starting to fog. We'll look them up this coming January.

Correct Mark, it's where the original seal on double-pane windows fail and the window fogs between the glass.

Had two windows fixed at Suncoast in April. They were great to work with. Expect other windows to lose there seal and will have them fixed at Suncoast. As mentioned before, if you can not get to their facility you can ship them windows. Had to make an appointment way in advance during the snowbird season,so you might call a few months in advance.

I looked for an ultra cheap way to handle my foggy windows. Went to the local small town glass shop and asked how I could inexpensively get mine fixed. They told me that if I removed the window, took the two halves apart and cleaned them up, then they would reassemble it for $45. Any size. I made a serious mistake with my window. I destroyed the gummy 'spacer' between the panes. When the shop learned I didn't salvage it, they had to order a roll of the stuff (of course I didn't see the invoice, but they said it was around $70 for what they had to order). He charged me a total of $65 for the repaired window. I'm going back this winter and will have him do a couple more. The getting the window out of the motorhome is the easy part, but the large ones look heavy. My frame was screwed together, another easy part to disassemble. Getting the window back into the frame and lined up was the challenge! With the DW's indispensable help we got 'er done. Tiffin uses a rubber seal on the frame-to-RV that I was afraid to re-use. RV places have the sticky black-butyl rolls that I used instead. My next hurdle will be to see if I can take the panes apart without ruining the spacer. Even if I do have to pay the extra 20 bucks, $65 was a lot less than what I had priced around the country!

(Just so you know, that 'fog' can etch the glass. If its been very long foggy, you might not want to salvage the window, but rather get new glass. Especially if it's one the driver/psgr looks thru all the driving time!)

Happy Trails
