W hat is the best place to winter in british Columbia? would prefer no snow and warmer temps and least amt. of rain.

our Canadian dollar at a low and constant rise in medical insurance.

If you enjoy small town living and Mild Winters, this is where you want to be. We are in our 3rd year and love it. The fruit trees are in blossom right now. We had one major snowfall of about 5" inches in January and the temperature dipped all the way to about -12 for a whole week.

Dennis:

I'm assuming that -12 was Celsius! It has been exceptionally mild all winter. We're about 50 miles on the US side of the border in western WA. Snowfall in the Cascades is less than 20% of normal and we've seen daytime highs pushing 18C last four weeks or so. Nowhere near as much rain as usual either.

The closest you'll find to your criteria is in the Victoria area. The mildest winter temperatures and less rain than against the mountains across the strait on the mainland.

I live in Victoria! The weather is nice, but the problem is the ferry ride! It cost a lot when we come over to the mainland (and return).

We have been in Osoyoos during the winter and stopped at NK'Mip during our trip south in the fall.

The campground is very nice. Notice that most of the RV's that were staying were skirting the RV and applying heat tape to the water and sewer lines.

We have talked with locals who say it does get cold once and a while but that it does not last long.

Check out the average temperatures and I think it will be fairly attractive. You are very close to the border so can slip across whenever you wish. Fuel even with the difference in the dollar as well as some foods may still be cheaper than BC.
