Winter Texans

Anyone out there who can tell us what to expect for an avg monthly electric bill down in the valley? All the parks say +electricity. I understand every RV is different. Just trying to figure out likely expenses.

I would say about $120.00 a month.

We haven't been there for 3 years now but ours was $60-$80. Each year is different weather though. Check what they are charging for KW hours though as some are out to rip you off. We stayed in one that was .19 an hour even though they were being charged .08. Hopefully there aren't many of those and I don't know the rates today.

Thanks for the info. Guess we're in for a price shock. What kind of things does everyone do to reduce, or do you just accept it as inevitable and move on?

We got to the RGV about a week ago. I've been reading our meter each day and it looks like our bill should be about $60 this month. We have been running the A.C. approx. 4 hrs. a day and a small fan when the A.C. is off. We also have LED lighting thru-out.

We have averaged about $80-$85 per month for the last three winters in the RGV. Rate has been 15c per kwh. We run 2 AC as needed, a residential refrigerator, washer and dryer, water heater on electric.

We have spent the last 3 winters in McAllen, Texas and our bill is usually around a $100.00 per month. This in a motorhome with a washer and dryer. Rate has been .13 kilowatt hr.

I say cost is not the problem. After a month you will be pretty bored down there and ready to move on to new surroundings.
