Winterization

So, just bought a new Winnebago Sightseer 30A. I live in Southwest Colorado, where it gets very cold (as in very cold TOMORROW). I need to get this rig winterized ASAP. The owners manual lists two methods: draining the water system and blowing out the lines OR adding potable anti-freeze to the system. The anti-freeze process seems quicker and easier. Any feed back on which process is better (if either) would be greatly appreciated. Also, any other hints regarding winterization/long term storage would be helpful. Thanks in advance, everyone!

Just happen to have it all written up for you.
Open all you faucets and your low point drains, drain WH REMOVE PLUG, turn by-pass valves in opposite direction and if you have a suction line off pump put in large bucket with 3 gallons and pump through your plumbing system.
Before pumping close all your faucets. Good luck.

I do all three.
1) It's always cold after our last campout of the season so I open the hot and cold drains and open all faucets.
2) Later I envision low points in the plumbing and connect my blowout plug and open and then close each of the faucets when nothing but air is coming out.
3) Later still I start worrying about water remaineng in the pump so I connect the pump to the pink stuff and run enough to fill each of the traps.

4) Bonus - since the pink stuff in the lines is no longer useful, I open the low point drains again and collect the pink runout in a jug for next year. Also remove the filter housing and add that to my saved pink stuff. (being frugal, I probably saved a dollars worth of pink this way )

We do all three. We first emptied and flushes black and grey tanks. We then drain the hot water heater. This year we I bought a plastic hw tank rinser and did that bring out a lot of calcium from the hw heater. Well worth the small effort. We then open low point drains, blow out the lines, bypass hw heater,blow out lines again and run pink stuff thru the pump and pour some down the traps. Easy 1-2 hour job. If your pump doesn't have a conversion kit to run the pink stuff, you can do it outside with a hand pump. Done it both ways and I will always install a conversion kit if the pump doesn't come with it.
