Winterize - TV & Chairs

Hello everyone, we are back after our extended trip across Canada and back through the USA(110 days and 23000+km(14000+miles)), and now time to put the 5er away for the winter. My questions are:-

1. Should I take the TV sets in for the winter??

2. Should I take the Leather Lazyboy chairs in for the winter??

Our winters in Calgary can be very cold, down to -20C to -40C at times and I don't want to ruin the TV's or have the leather on the chairs to crack.

Thanks
Ray & Nora

Hi Ray & Nora,
The chairs should survive. Just don't use them until they are warmed up. For the TV, if you have the owners manual, it should provide the temps that the TV can be stored. If not the manufacturer's web site should provide this information. It all depends on what technology the TV is. Picture tube, LCD, Plasma or LED they all have different specs for storage.

LCD tvs will readily survive in below zero temps, but they can't be used at those temps.

Each manufacturer has his own spec, but -4F is about the most restrictive I have seen. Some are -20 or even -40.
