Winterizing

We have a 2017 C-class Forester. Is it important to tarp it for the winter (upstate NY). I didnt tarp it last year and it was fine. Also, the dealerships dont cover the many that they have on the lot. However, if its best to tarp it, I will. Thanks in advance for your advice.

I was givin a cover for mine and gave it away. Don't like the idea of something rubbing the finish when the wind is blowing. Go out and clean the snow off after it snows. Better yet. A pole barn is the way to go.
