Winterizing question?

Is there a cap you can buy to put on the water filter so you don't have to fill the whole cartridge holder with pink? Kind of like a jar lid?

I have not seen one, but how about replacing the filter element with something solid to just take up space In The housing? Try a plastic soda bottle, and fill it with water so it won't collapse or fill with pink.

You are to take the bowl and filter out, install the hose on intake and outlet.

Bypass Valves

I followed someone else's mod and added bypass valves around the water filter. Just need to remove water from filter and the filter itself for winterization and flip the valves to bypass it all.

I also use the valves to bypass filtering water that is already considered "filtered" while filling up my fresh water tank.

The filter housing we used had a built-in bypass to use when replacing the filter.

Yes, there is. I saw an ad for it just within the past few days. Let me think on it for a few minutes.

I just let mine fill up. Afterwards dump it back in the jug for next year.

Have a nice day - Darrel

All I did was cut out a plastic disk (from the lid of a cottage cheese tub), removed the filter and used it as a bypass plate. Of course I filled the filter housing with water before inserting the plastic disc to keep the plastic disc from collapsing. After I finished winterizing all I did was removed the filter housing and emptied it.
