Wow! Cost of propane!
We are going to camp for the first time this season march 30th. Friday we went to get propane from a big propane distributor near our garage. $3.50 a gallon or pound or whatever, total bill $98.00. Am I out of line thinking this is high? Everyone is complaining about gas and diesel, but not much mentioned on propane. I thought I bought some in Texas in October for $2.50 in October.

Propane is a byproduct of an oil refinery. So it will go up just like gas and diesel. One of many petroleum products going up. Let’s face it. We will see beans and butter going up due to higher fuel costs. Anything that gets transported. It’s our economy's life's blood.

That's high, the last fillup of my residential tank was $2.85/gallon. (this past week) For the motorhome, I go to a local rental yard, they are quite a bit cheaper than other places. (they do have a 5 gallon minimum).

I just paid $20 to have a 30 lb. tank filled, so assuming that's about 7 gallons it comes out to be about $2.85/gallon. This is in Texas at a propane supply co., can easily cost .50 - 1.00 more per gallon at 'convenience' locations.

Currently $3.00 a gallon here in a number of places in Texas. At the last park we were in the local LP distributors came in and delivered/filled at your site for no extra charge.

I guess it was my mistake to go to a big propane supplier. It's out in the middle of nowhere in the sticks, and I know many of the homes in the area are farms that use propane for their main heat.

I'm not sure about this but I believe propane is taxed differently in various states. I had propane delivered to our site in SoCal last week for $2.79 gallon, have paid $3.50+ per gallon in Arizona not long ago.

Most propane is a byproduct of natural gas production. 90% is domestically produced, 7% is imported from Canada. Most of the transportation is via pipeline. per wikipedia Propane - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
