Wow Good Sam RV rate went up over 100% this renewal ?

from $593 to $1202

no changes, no claims, no tickets !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
but I do see where they rate our 44 ft rv "pleasure/commute" that there is funny !

thank you Good Sam for sneaking that increase in last renewal...
My mistake for being too busy to read closely and ASSumed....

Anyone have any idea where someone with an 800+ credit score can get reasonable insurance for something that is driven so little and in covered storage when not ?

National General/GS insurance did the exact same thing to us. After 2 years of low rates, jumped ours 60% for no reason, no explanation given.
Checked around and got Progressive, which was even lower than initial rate with GS.
Just check around...you owe no alligence to any company, so change as needed.

AAA saved us big time after being with State Farm for years. We gave them our Declaration pages and they matched policy coverage exactly. Hard to believe you can save 30% for identical coverage, but it's possible.....

Hartford AARP cut my Good Sam (GMAC) rate in half.

National Interstate has kept my rate almost constant now for 6 yrs. (I know I probably just jinxed myself)

Progressive was about 30 to 50 percent less than the others we called. They also include roadside service and trip interruption where most of the others didn't. It may be worth doing an online quote to see if they're better. But if you decide to switch call them to go over the quote - stress your driving record and excellent credit, it saved me an additional $30 per month.

There are no simple answers on insurance.

You need to comparison shop the reputable companies. Price depends on your driving record, location class, and each level of coverage.

I am in Rural Route Class 1. It is the lowest location cost in PA. If I lived in Philladelpia the over-all rate would triple.

Each insurer has rates that vary by state, or even by county.

Make sure the quotes are one-on-one for all coverage levels. Some like to provide lower pricing via lower coverage.

So, no simple answers. You must shop. Brokers may help.

Best of luck!

Call NF / GS and tell them you are going to cancel. Chances are they will tell you an "error" was made on your renewal bill and suddenly it will be back to being competitive with the others. That said, once you have gone to the trouble to find a deal somewhere else you may want to go ahead and change.

Apparently enough people just accept the increase and pay it that it is financially good for them this way. Kind of like the large price increase game that ATT Uverse plays with their customers when year 1 ends.

Yep, same thing here, GMAC doubled our insurance, I switched to Hartford thru AARP, waiting to see if they jack our rates in two months at renewal time!

Just called Hartford thru AARP, we had one claim for both front windshields replaced two months after we got the insurance. Annual renewal policy went from $620.98 to $626.07, an increase of $5.09 for the year! I can live with that!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, less than 30 seconds on the phone and I was speaking to a REAL LIVE PERSON! Try THAT with Progressive or GMAC!

My Good Sam/National insurance went up about $200. This year over last year. The year before that I had Blue Sky.... Blue Sky gave me a very good rate for one year and then raised the rate about 120%.
I think almost all RV insurers try to pull this from time to time. Pays to keep shopping around and be ready to jump to the next company.

GS jumped our rate 500 after the first year so it appears they low balled us to get us for a year. Dropped them and saved 700 with Hartford
