I-70 East & West at Washington, PA
Last Updated on: 05/31/2005
Travel Advisory Information:
The Department is currently working on Interstate 70, eastbound and westbound, in Washington from Exits 17 (Jefferson Avenue) to Exit 19 Murtland Avenue.
The contractor, Matcon Daimond, Pittsburgh, PA is performing concrete patching, replacement of bridge approach slabs, and profile grinding of the roadway once concrete patching is completed.
This area should be completed on or around July 4, 2005.
The traveling public can expect long delays approaching the construction site. Motorist are encouraged to find alternate routes if they so desire too to avoid sitting in traffic. Pennsylvania State Police will be assisting in traffic control and will be issuing citations for those drivers that are being careless, speeding, and pacing entering the project site. Message boards have been installed approximately 10 miles prior to entering the construction zone work area. These message boards are located on Interstate 79 northbound approaching the South Junction; Interstate 79 southbound from Pittsburgh approaching the North Junction; Interstate 70 eastbound near the Claysville Welcome Center; and Interstate 70 westbound near Dunningsville.
Once this section of roadway is completed, the contractor will begin construction on the next phase which is from Exit 17 (Jefferson Avenue) westerly towards Exit 15 (Chestnut Street). The same type of construction will be performed at this area as well. Construction of this phase can be expected to start on or after July 4, 2005 and be completed by late August 2005. Delays are to be expected at this work zone as well.
Moderators: Can this posting be setup to that it stays at the top of the list. This way, people can easily reference it and add any additional travel advisories to it... Thanks, FPM.

Done!
Plus, I added "2005 National Rally" to your title to maintain consistency with the other posts about this event.

Plan on using Rt. 81 from NY to exit 90 @ Lickdale then south on 72 to 283/30 to the CG. Any words of advice, particularly on the Lickdale / CG portion would be appreciated.

It would actually be better to get off 81 at the Hershey/Grantville exit and take 743 (S/E) to 283. Take 283 east to 30 east to Ronks Rd. Ronks Rd. is just past 896. You will be turning right onto Ronks Rd. The campground is just a short distance, on the left.
There is construction on 81 but it is not as bad as taking 72, unless you like slow travel on hilly terrain and a narrow road with many stops.
