2012 iRV2.com National Rally
September 16 to September 22, 2012
1004 Parkway, Sevierville, Tennessee 37862
The “2012 National Rally Committee” is pleased to announce that the 12th Consecutive iRV2 National Rally will be held in Sevierville, Tennessee. On behalf of the rally committee, Tracy and I are pleased to welcome you to your rally to be held at the beautiful River Plantation RV Park. This site offers us the perfect blend of southern hospitality, majestic mountain views and first rate facilities and services that will provide us the very best in RV resort life. Located directly off the US 441 Parkway in a peaceful valley bordered by the Little Pigeon River, it is only minutes away from all that the Great Smoky Mountains, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg have to offer.
If you love the outdoors, you can’t beat the area’s mountain hiking, fishing and golf. Attractions such as Dollywood, WonderWorks and Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies as well as shows such as Dixie Stampede and Country Tonight Theater provide hours of family fun. With shopping at more than 300 factory outlets and dining at the best restaurants, there’s something for everyone in the Smokies!
The many features of this facility are too numerous to include here. The conference center is amazing and it will be the focus where we will have all of our meals, entertainment and group activities. The dining facilities are second to none.
It is planned that most members will arrive on Sunday or earlier. When you arrive you will be met by "Parkers" who will escort you to your site and help you get situated. The registration desk will be open from 12:00 pm until 5:00pm on Sunday in the pavilion. I expect that you will be receiving goody bags and a themed welcoming bag which include the Rally Event Program and any tickets you may have purchased for group tour events (still working on this). Also included will be an iRV2 sticker and a 2012 National Rally ID.
Below is the tentative event schedule and is subject to change.
The Rally will “Officially” begin Sunday evening with our “Welcoming Social” in the conference center at 6:00pm. The social will include both hot and cold Hors D'oeuvre including soda, coffee and tea. You can bring your own wine and beer to any meal or social event if you would like to do so. This event will run for about 2 hours from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Tracy and I hope to see and meet everyone, especially first time attendees. Please remember to please wear your National Rally ID all the times and especially for the meals.
Our 2012 National Rally will also include the participation of several vendors in attendance. The vendors will begin welcoming members on Monday and daily thereafter from 9:00am to 4:00pm in the afternoon. Vendors will be providing new products, installation as well as service and warranty adjustments as required. Most of the corporate vendors will present seminars and we think you will see this time as well spent and enjoyable. We will also have educational and safety seminars which are noncommercial. The seminars are typically 1 hour on Monday and Tuesday only, however some may require a bit more time. The Rally Program will detail all the events, meals and times and will be subject to change. We hope to have a tentative program up on-line as soon as possible so we can see how this event will unfold. Tracy and I are working with Mike P. (DriVer) and Colleen P. (Mrs. DriVer) to include some seminars directed more toward the female side of RV’ing. We are also working on a ladies only type event which could include a luncheon or some type of tour or even shopping. We would love to hear some input from you gals on this endeavor. We are planning to have iRV2.com merchandise available for sale i.e. T-Shirts, Hats and more.
Monday morning will feature our first meal, a full sit down breakfast. Breakfast will begin at 8:00am and conclude at approximately 9:00am. Coffee and water will be available all day during our seminar days. Our seminars will begin at 9:00am sharp after breakfast. The morning seminar session will conclude at 12:00pm. There will be a 1 hour lunch. The afternoon session will resume at 1:00pm and it should run to 4:00pm. Monday night will be dinner on your own. During the early evenings we will try to arrange group campfires or other activities in the conference center. Please send Tracy and I your suggestions if you have something special you want to put together and host i.e. Bingo, poker etc.
Tuesday we will have a catered Continental style breakfast beginning at 8:00 am. Seminars will begin at 9:00am and will run to 12:00pm. Lunch will be on your own. The afternoon seminars will resume at 1pm. and conclude at 4pm. Tuesday evening at approximately 6pm. We will feature a Catered Soup and Sandwich Dinner and then hopefully we will all stay to chat or play games. Invite your friends to stay play cards or board games. The dinner will run until about 8:00pm and then we will start our game night. The pavilion will be available for anyone who would like to meet for a group campfire.
On Wednesday we plan to have a group tour event. We will update you when this is closer to being decided on where we will go. There is a ton of things to choose from. Wednesday evening we will have a Catered Italian Buffet. Dinner will be from 6pm until 8pm. We will give out the Big Prizes that night and you will need to be present to win.
Thursday is a “Family Day” or a day on your own. We hope to have brochure’s included in your goody bags to help you decide how to spend your free day. If anyone would like to organize a shopping or group outing for the attendees it will be greatly appreciated. The 2011 Rally featured two such trips, one group went to the Mariners Museum, and another did an antique trip. So if you have an idea let us know. Don’t be late for our fully catered, sit down dinner on Thursday evening! Our "National Rally Dinner" is at 6:00pm in the conference center and it will run until 8:00pm. Beginning at approximately 8:00pm, we will live have entertainment and we are still working on this. I am hoping for two hour music and dancing event.
Friday will we begin at 8:00am with our second Full Catered Breakfast! Hopefully we will be able to make an announcement as to who will host the 2013 National Rally as the Rally Master. I believe the site of the rally will be announced later in October or November after member input has been posted. I will update this as it unfolds. You will have some time to relax before our late lunch, early dinner, Catered Cook Out sendoff under the pavilion to be held from 2pm to 5pm. We welcome you to stay and enjoy one last group campfire. We are hoping to add a surprise guest appearance to this final get together.
Saturday morning people will start making their way home or to their next destination. Tracy and I are excited about the 2012 National Rally and we hope that you will choose to attend this event.
We have reserved 100 campsites for the rally (more are available) and the caterer will have plenty of food and staff to make this a great event. The sites that you will occupy while at the rally are very large and will feature full hookups on concrete pads. The campground has free Wi-Fi and cable TV. The laundry and bathhouse (3) facilities are first rate, the camp store is well stocked and all the other support services that you may need will be there. We will have a complete meal plan published in the Rally Program so that you can see exactly what will be served. We hope to have all the menus posted by April 1st. if all goes well.
In order to attend this Rally, all you need to do is call River Plantation RV Park at 800-758-5267 or 865-429-5267 and tell them that you are with the iRV2.com rally and you would like to make a reservation. They will know the dates and they will make the campsite assignments. The deposit is for 1 night camping to reserve your site, $28.50 plus tax. You will be asked to pay the balance on arrival. The cost of the rally will include all catered meals, entertainment and the Friday activities. The 2012 Rally committee is dedicated to keeping the cost for this event under $425.00 per rig (2 persons) including camping, expanded catered meal plan and all rally activities. The tour will be optional and priced separately. Camping Cabins and Golf Carts will be available for rent.
Please get involved with this event by volunteering to work on a committee. Many jobs need doing and positions are available! Please respond by PM to dixieray53 (Dickson) or Wildfire (Tracy) with comments or questions.
Please RSVP on The iRV2 rally calendar so we know you are planning on attending.

This is a bit closer than the east coast, so we will have to see if I can work it into our plans. Sounds great.

This is great. Thank you, Dickson & Tracy, for being our wagonmasters & putting together such a comprehensive itinerary for us. You've put a lot of work into this already & we really appreciate it.
I attended the 2006 iRV2.com National Rally held at River Plantation. The campground is first rate & in an area jam-packed with things to do. An excellent choice for our next National Rally!

Thanks for stepping up to host the 2012 National Rally! I appreciate y'all working to find a location that is a little further south & west from your original proposal so our members in the South and Central USA will be a bit closer and can hopefully attend.

If I remember correctly, there is a muscle car museum for the gear heads of the group in this area, also.

****The following is not a complaint or criticism*****
As a new member of this board and a new owner of a travel trailer, I'd love to attend the 2012 Rally. It is a great location, it looks like a very nice campground and the organizers seem to have really done a nice job of setting it up.
Reason for not being able to attend, again, not a complaint or criticism:
It is scheduled from a Sunday to a Saturday. It doesn't include a full weekend. As I work and already have an approved and purchased vacation (cruise) all set up for late October, I can not take a week off of work. However, if the Rally included a full weekend, I could take a Friday or Monday and make a long weekend of it down there (about a 6 hour drive from here).
Maybe fruit for thought of possibly including a full weekend in future Rallies.

Thanks Dickson and Tracy for arranging the rally. River Plantation is a real nice CG and there certainly is lot's to do in the area and September is a very nice time, weather wise in the Volunteer State. We are looking forward to attending.

Thank you for the input, Two Jays. Our Rallies have been split weekends because the majority of the "still working" members who attend them prefer having the Saturday before & the Sunday after as travel days so as not to use up their vacation time on the road. That's not to say our Rally days can't be changed in the future, just insight as to why the days are what they are.
