Road Construction in Springfield Missouri. For those who are coming thru Springfield Missouri to the National Rally MODOT has a scheduled road closing of I-44 and US 65 from 7-9 July( http://www.modot.org/) or 1-800-222-6400. The roadway is scheduled to be open by Tuesday July 10, 2007. If you are coming into Springfield on I-44 from the east the best by pass to avoid construction would be to get off I-44 at exit 84 and go south to south to state road 744 (Kearney St.) then west to US 65 and then south on 65 to Branson. Coming from the West the best route is exit 69 (James River Freeway or US 60) thru Springfield to US 65 and then south to Branson. If construction goes as scheduled these alternative routes will not be necessary.

Jack,
Thanks for the info. I will be coming in on the 12th, so hopefully it will be open then.
Someone either told me or I read it somewhere, don't remember which, that there is a road that runs kinda parallel with I65 that is better from Springfield to Branson.
Do you know anything about that?
Mike

I belive you are talking about HW 13 or Campbell ave. You are much better taking US 65 down to Branson (4 lane all the way). Hwy 13 is 2 lane and you end up on the south side of Branson and would have to go thru the city to get to the Campground.
P.S. We are planning on getting there on the 12th also.

Thanks for the headsup. We are planning on coming in on the 15th so it shouldn't be a problem for us.
Is the bypass you mentioned something to consider even without construction?

Bob;
If you are comming in from the east the by-pass will not save you time. If you are comming in from the west the James River Freeway will be faster.

Jack,
We're coming in from the east (NH). Looks like I take I-44 to State 65. Thanks for the info.

Jack,
Thanks for the 'heads up' on the construction. We're planning on coming from the east across US60 to US65, any qualms with that route?

Richard, Asfar as I know you should have no problems comming in that way. Youmay want to check the modot website for updates.
