Several of the churches from the 17th and 18th centuries are a close drive to Urbanna.. The law of the land from 1624 mandated that white Virginians worship in the Anglican church (Church of England) and support its upkeep with their taxes. Where religion was an integral part of everyday life in Virginia, the lines blurred between religious and civil authority. We will be in Middlesex County, Essex is the next county North on US-17 and Lancaster is the county across the "rivah", on VA-3 bridge. Enjoy your free time in Urbanna..
