Don't limit yourself to only riding the Dragon, there are many other places to ride in the area that are just as good and a whole lot less crowded. Get a good route map about anywhere down there that caters to motorcycles.

this. With all the unskilled riders up there... its pretty risky. Lots of auxillary roads that are much better.
Also keep your speed down on the blue ridge. I got a $2000 citation there a couple years ago. Posted is 45... which is crawling.

Yep, heard that Virginia raised their speeding fines to 2000.00 first offense. That's why I either avoid going through there or when I do I keep the speed limit. No sense in fattening a corrupt politicians pockets more then they already are.

At $2.00 for every 1 mph over, you deserved it Never take an F-16 on the Parkway!

Seriously, how many over for a 2 grand ticket? Or did you forget the decimal point?

Talking to the wrong person Foxhaven. Curious though, did you think of that all by yourself, or did you have help?

Riding two-up on a stock RoadKing on a curvy road, 45MPH is more of a goal than a limit.

It's an 11 mile section of US 129 which runs along the SW corner of the Smokey Mt Nat Park. It has 312 curves in those 11 miles.

This site can pretty much explain it all.

Deals Gap, NC information. The Dragon, US129, Great Smoky Mountains.

it was under triple digits and wasnt like we were out of control just on a 5th gear low rpm cruise. The Agent did not write a speed down... just a summons to appear. He did not like the tight pack we went by him hiding in the bushes.
The bikes we were riding could exceed the posted with barely even touching the throttle. Even 65 mph up there would be slow.

Listen... Blount county is as crooked as they come. Its worse than Boss Hogg from the fictional television show. They make TENS OF MILLIONS off citing tourists in their little kangaroo court town. I have a real problem with law enforcement when the Sheriff does it for big $$$$ gains.

I rode the "dragon" long before the retard crews got wind of it and Goldwingers used to scrape floor boards to scrap. Now it has a tshirt shop, full time photog, motel & restaurant, motorcycle shop, etc.
