It'll be changed when DriVer is ready to put up a registration page for 2011.

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

Thanks, Lori. But if a person new to the forum didn't read all 14 previous pages, he or she may not be aware that the subject has already moved on to 2012. I think there already may have been some confusion on that point. Anyway, looking forward to the 2011 rally in VA and whatever happens in 2012.

Well, the geographic center of the contiguous (lower) 48 states is about four miles west of Lebanon, Kansas, at 9835' West 3950' North. So somewhere in Kansas would be a good idea. Summer is best! Just my two cents.

Good grief. Surely you jest. Nothing against Kansas, but I just crossed it and it has not changed since I first visited there in 1998 or so.

Long and boring back then and was the same 4 weeks ago.

OK, the Grumpy Truckdriver is going to toss this out. I just read through 7 pages of comments. I was one who wanted to attend the Ohio Rally, however, my father-in-law fell down a flight of stairs, brain injury, ect. Some things can't be helped.

In 7 pages, I didn't see anything about people with disabilities. My wife has MS. If a rally is planned, and it's hot out, how many people will just set in their unit because it is so hot out? My wife is one of those.

As far as anything near Chicago. Nope, don't do it. Crime, traffic, more crime....even the police chief ran and hid when the gang bangers started shooting at each other. St. Louis zoo may be free, however, they charge you to park your car. Far out!!!!! They were very helpful when I was getting my wife's scooter out of the truck.

Ya'll pick someplace, then after talking to the wife, and trying to keep my father-in-law from taking the short cut down the stairs, we will try to attend.

May the force be with you............

Whew, I just read all 15 pages.
1. Have the previous rallies had a charge for event everyday?
2. What has been the average cost of a rally?
3. Has every rally had vendor participation, what types, how many?
4. What has been the average attendance?
5. Are dinners generally planned for every day of the rally?

I ask these questions because I have been a rally master at 2 So Cal Alpine Rallies. These rallies were only for weekends, and the furthest traveled distance was about 400 miles. We will be in Indiana next year, 2011. A rally around Louisville, KY. might be nice. I'm not familiar with the area yet, but I will be soon. It is not far from Indy. No promises, still a working stiff I will better know our schedule in the late spring.

A week long rally is a BIG undertaking.

Way to go Mike!! And all others before

Churchhill Downs, a trip to race stables (what, where, and how of training a race horse?) Louisville Slugger Museum ect. just a couple of ideas.

Even though you guys have read a lot of pages you must have just skimmed over some!! The 2011 rally location has already been picked its at Beth Page campground in VIRGINIA,AND Driver is heading it up. He is now working on being head of the reunion rally in Myrtle Beach which is Oct.10-14 2010. He will put up a seperate post when the schedule of events are "set in stone" for 2011!! I think the discussion went onto ,in this same post, to the location of the 2012 rally.

Exactly what my post was about. That is why in one of the last sentences I thanked Mike...Driver.

Just a tad further east, and south, you can find Renfro Valley Kentucky. You are close to Berea (sp) and not that far from Cumberland falls state park. Renfro Valley has a lot to offer, too. There are two campground, one being a KOA, and the other being in the music complex. We have had small rallies down there for our Good Sams group, and the Shasta owner group, when we belonged to it.

Louisville, KY, isn't all that far from the Corvette museum, which I believe is in Bowling Green.

Good Luck on your travels.

I third, fourth or whatever vote for SD in 2012. We did not get to take our yellowstone trip this year due to a death in the family. So a reschedule to SD and yellowstone would be great in 2012.

The place I mentioned earlier in SD is not large enough to host a rally as big as a National, but I did find a couple more while there a couple of weeks ago. Rafter J is big enough and pretty centrally located in the southern hills.
HorseThief, near Rushmore (on the backside) would work as well. Not talking about the NF CG Horse Thief, but the other commercial one further down the mountain. It may be a KOA.
Both places are OK, but it was Buffalo Round Up in Custer State Park and everything was pretty darn busy in the area. Did not get to talk to anyone except the folks at Broken Arrow.
From Atlanta to the northern hills area of the Black Hills is something like 1700 miles. That is a fair piece to travel. Before everyone gets excited about South Dakota, just figure how far you generally travel in a day and then dived that number into the 1700 miles. We usually try to do it in 4 days, but I am a tired puppy even then. We would like to see a rally there and there is a lot of history in that area and in the surrounding area as well. But it is indeed a long way to travel

Looks like most of us will drive a couple days to get to the rally. Regardless of the location lets stay out of the humidity by timing the event compaired to the location. One event instead of two would probably be better in my opinion.
